Long before laptops… long before the internet… long before smartphones… and certainly long before artificial intelligence… that little slate was the first writing tool I ever used. It was where I learned to write my ABCs. My numbers. My name.
I couldn't have imagined then that one day I'd be collaborating with artificial intelligence to help people navigate one of the greatest technological transitions in history. Yet here we are. Sometimes I pause and think about that journey. From writing on a slate… to writing with AI. It reminds me just how extraordinary this moment really is.
I've Watched the World Change… One Revolution at a Time.
Each technological shift changed the tools we used. But something else changed too. People became disoriented. Every major transition created uncertainty. People wondered: "Will I still matter?" "Can I learn this?" "Am I already behind?" Those questions aren't new. Only the technology is.
My Career Was Never Really About Writing. It Was About Helping People Find Their Way.
For decades, I worked as a technical communicator. My job wasn't simply to write manuals. It was to help people understand complex systems. To reduce confusion. To organize information. To make difficult things easier to navigate. The goal was always the same. Help people move from confusion… to confidence. Looking back now, I realize I was practicing orientation long before I had a word for it.
Then Artificial Intelligence Arrived
Like everyone else, I was fascinated. The possibilities were extraordinary. But after the initial excitement settled, I noticed something. Most conversations centered on the technology itself.
